Jim Donohue, Chair of the Firm’s Criminal Defense Practice, was recently featured on the front page of the Star-Ledger in an article discussing the US Attorney’s criminal case against Senator Bob Menendez. The article involved the possibility of defense attorneys seeking a change of venue to move the case to Florida:

Legal experts said Wednesday the move was typical of the gamesmanship played in criminal cases as attorneys try to put their case before a jury most favorable to them.

“It could be that the U.S. Attorney’s Office would not oppose the idea,” said James Donohue, a veteran criminal defense attorney and formed prosecutor. “it’s not going to affect the proofs of the case.” Donohue said a judge would have to consider the location of witnesses likely to testify and where the crime was alleged to have occurred.
