Gene's picInjuries to the brain are common in traffic accidents, sports injuries, workplace injuries and other activities where blunt force trauma to the head occurs. Any injury to the head and brain are serious and require immediate medical attention. If the injury was caused by another party’s negligence, you also need to obtain the assistance of an experienced personal injury attorney.

There are numerous types of injuries that can damage the brain. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when a sudden trauma injures the brain. It can be the result of a harsh blow, jolt or crash to the head resulting in a disruption of normal brain function. The symptoms of TBI can be mild, moderate or severe, including:

    • Mild. After the injury to the head, the victim may remain conscious or may lose consciousness for a brief period of time. The individual may also experience dizziness, headache, confusion, ringing in the ears, blurred vision, difficulty concentrating, fatigue or a change in mood or behavior.
    • Moderate or Severe. All of the symptoms with a mild TBI can also be present with moderate or severe TBI. However, the injured person may have a headache that doesn’t go away, on-going nausea, seizures, slurred speech, dilation of one or both pupils, confusion, loss of dexterity or numbness in the arms and legs.

Victims with TBI often incur costly and overwhelming medical expenses. Thus, it is imperative to obtain the advice and guidance of a personal injury attorney experienced in handling head and brain injuries to help ensure you and your family recovers the full and fair financial recovery for the injuries sustained.
